Regular wellness exams are one of the most important things you can do to keep your pet healthy. The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) recommends annual wellness exams at a minimum and as your pet ages, they suggest an increase in frequency of visits. We believe strongly in preventive care and have developed wellness protocols for every stage of your pet’s life. During a wellness exam, our veterinary team will start out by taking your pet’s vital signs and will ask for a complete history of your pet’s health including eating habits, exercise, unusual behavior, etc. and do a comprehensive examination of your pet from nose to tail. Early detection and correction of medical problems will help to ensure that your pet will love a long, healthy, and active life.

Like most pet owners, you probably enjoy spending quality time with your pets and want to protect them from unwelcome visits from pesky parasites like fleas and ticks. Not only can these unfriendly parasites make your pets extremely uncomfortable, they also pose grave health risks and preventive measures should be taken year round. By taking action, the diseases these parasites transmit to pets and people can be mitigated or prevented. There are many safe and effective flea and tick control products available, and our veterinary team will help you choose the correct preventive regimen based on your pets risk factors and health status.

Dental disease can occur in pets of all ages, but if your pet is 3 years or older, he/she likely has tartar and plaque build-up on the teeth and probably needs a dental cleaning. Plaque, tartar, periodontal disease, and infected teeth serve as a source of inflammation and infection for the rest of the body. Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s health at any age. Our dental services at Olympic Veterinary Clinic include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.

Spaying or neutering your pet can help them live a longer, healthier life, minimizes behavior problems, and helps control the population of unwanted pets. Your pet’s safety and comfort is our primary concern. We use advanced pain management techniques in conjunction with anesthesia to make sure your pet is as comfortable as possible during the procedure and after they are discharged. All of our surgery patients have IV catheters placed and receive IV fluids. We use several monitoring devices during your pet’s anesthetic and a veterinary technician will continually assess your pet’s vital signs during the procedure.

    MICROCHIPPING
Thousands of pets become lost every day, and microchip identification is the one reliable way to reunite these lost pets with their owners. The procedure is safe, easy, inexpensive, and practically painless. We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is injected under the skin between the shoulder blades with a syringe. Once the chip is in place, it should be there for the life of the pet, and we will register your microchip to ensure your contact information is associated with the bar code number.
